John Peel's Home Page at the BBC is the best place to start; there're links to the stories, a two-hour tribute programme featuring only music from John Peel sessions and tributes from everyone.
Like many my age and younger, John Peel was for many years the only source of alternative, different and interesting music in the UK. Without him I'd go as far as to say Punk Rock wouldn't have taken off so quickly, if at all, and many, many bands from Black Sabbath to Blur owe their careers to him.
In one way I'm glad he died happy, on holiday with his family in Cuzco, Peru; on the gripping hand it sucks that he's dead and we'll hear nothing new from that droning, drole voice again.
I loved your stuff, John. Thanks.
