Today both Chef and the S-C said nice things to me.
Not just nice things, in fact - actual compliments.
Weird.
Chef told me that something or other I was doing to collect together the next day's orders was 'Good thinking', and then the S-C said that my cucumber salad was 'perfect'.
What's possibly even worse is that neither has bollocked me for anything, even though they had an opportunity when I forgot the cucumber salad this morning and had to call back for it.
Weird. If they carry on like this I'm going to demand some ID.
Meanwhile, the accountant has called and asked me to pop in and sign a contract. Which I'm loathe to do right now. I certainly won't be signing anything on the spot, which I suspect is what he'll be telling me to do - standard contract, nothing unusual, we all sign this, just here and here and initial here please, thankyou that'll be one soul you owe us.
I'm hoping the job at Le Pontet will happen at the end of next week to start with, and if I don't have a contract I don't have a notice period to work out. There is though the added danger of also not getting paid if I just bugger off with no notice, so I'm planning to delay getting the contract as long as possible, and then delaying even more the signing.
I'd called a pizzeria advertising for a commis chef and they said drop the CV in tonight, but on mature reflection I don't think I want to work in a pizzeria at all. It's like the job I have now, not the sort of cooking I want to do at all. And I don't want a series of one- and two-month jobs on my CV really.
So instead I'm planning to drop my CV into the best restaurants in town in the hope that one of them may be looking for someone. We'll see.
